Steven Goldstein, who founded and led Garden State Equality in New Jersey and led the U.S. human rights organization Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect, has written, cowritten or steered to enactment more than 200 LGBTQ civil rights laws at the federal, state and local levels, including America’s strongest anti-bullying law. Called “a larger-than-life activist by the Associated Press,” Steven was featured in two motion pictures:  The 2008 documentary Freeheld, which won the Academy Award for Best Short Documentary, and the 2015 Hollywood version of Freeheld in which he was played by Steve Carell. 



Steven holds 10 Emmy Awards as a television news producer and is author of the HarperCollins book The Turn-On, acclaimed as one of the top fivemarketing books of 2019. A graduate of Brandeis, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Columbia Journalism School and Columbia Law School, and a participant in the strategic nonprofit management program at Harvard Business School, a Steven is now fulfilling a lifelong dream as a rabbinical student at the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York.
