Tanya’s pronouns are (she/her they/them) is a U.S Army Veteran, Studied Social Work at the College of Staten Island, while there she led the Lesbian Gay Group in the in the 1990s. Co-founder of New York Transgender Advocacy Group (NYTAG) Former Co- President of The New York State Gender Diversity Coalition. Currently Tanya serves on the board of Equality New York, and facilitates the Transgender Women’s Group at SAGE, Midtown Manhattan. Tanya fought for the expansion of LGBTQ rights in New York SONDA & GENDA. She fights for and believes in Equality & Equity for the LGBTQSGL Community.



Tanya helped to lobby of the Assembly and Senate in Albany for 17 years, to get gender identity added to existing human rights legislation. GENDA helps to stop Trans and Gender Non- Conforming folk (TGNC) from being discriminated in the areas of, housing, healthcare, accommodations, credit, and education. The GENDA Non-Discrimination Act (S502/A.3358) was passed on January 15th, 2019, Tanya witnessed GENDA signed into law on January 25th, 2019 by Governor Cuomo. Tanya helped create the Transgender Transitional Housing Program (TTHP) Housing Works NYC, Tanya worked as a case manager. While employed there she helped to develop Program Protocols, affirming documentation, Life Skills Training Cultural Sensitivity/Cultural Competency for staff and clients.
